What's the most important product you have in your shop? When I have been asked that question,I presume my friends mean"what's the best seller". Fair enough question, I suppose, but people are always curious or plain nosey! But that's ok too because we cannot afford to be judgemental.
Oh yes, back to the question. According to the old Chinese proverb (aren't they always old and Chinese? )....... The most important thing in your shop is your customer's name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I agree that sounds hypothetical or even absurd but it is very true and I also agree that you will never remember every name either. I try as far as possible ,to place every customer either by name or product and always ask for a first name in every conversation. Old fashioned? Not at all,it is plain good manners and believe me, a lot of my business comes from repeat sales and referrals from my client base. A satisfied customer will send more business your way and will beat every other kind of advertisment you can think of.
So what's the old Chinese proverb again??  Yes that's right and please remember it. Thank you.
